Who will be chosen?

Number one: "small people ...", maybe there will be we are ...

Number two: "continue!", no one from us ...

Number three: "faster, better ...", are we there?

Number zero: "hi! is this to be chosen by us?", maybe we will be here all ...

The president election is now in shortcoming. We will enter "silent week", before going to vote location on next 08 July 2009. Logically, people already fixes the candidate to be chosen at the D-Day; but in fact, so many people asking "who will be chosen by me?". This is because not one for the three candidates is fulfill the aspiration fully. The question also coming to me frequently. Seeing the political platform, almost no difference among the three ...

That is the reason, we only have a tool to filter: "hita" (in English said "us"). "Hita" means Batakneese and (hallelujah!) Christian.

Powerless Praying?

+ Powerless praying! I do not win the election. Give it my money back!

- Ah, ... ehm, i just praying brother and sister ... and the money also i sent to the headquarter ...

This is still talking about candidate of legislator. The election is passed in last 9 April, but the effect is still there. As you know, some candidates using church (including the pastor and or priest) as target of campaign. HKBP as traditional Batak church also a part of the game, especially for candidates whi the background is related to Batakneese. I heard from people that some candidates invited them (the pastors) to one event and gave money to them at the end of session before leaving the venue. The message is: don't forget to choose one of them at the D-day. And there is possibility that pastors run away by promoting the candidate in some occasions, like preaching ...

In formal way, HKBP did a special service and praying the candidates in church. We do not know if there is "gifting" from candidates to compensate this generousity which is never done before (in years ago).

Currently, the result if election already published. And not everyone - off course - won the election and entitled to be legislator. There is possibility the candidates will challenge and will claim church (es) who prayed for them last time and questioning why they are not won. And maybe they asking for everything ever given to church (es) last time to return to them accordingly ...

The King of Batak was cried then ...

This is about "tragedy" regarding strong willingness to create another province in North Sumatra, called with Province Tapanuli. Actually, the idea of making Tapanuli as province was initiated since years ago when President Soeharto hold the power and role everything in one hand. Even before the new provinces and districts born in recent years. I still remember last time (when i was young ...) there is a popular song within certain Batak community with the title Tangis ni Tapanuli (The Crying of Tapanuli) talking about strong willingness to making happened Tapanuli as province, splitted out of North Sumatra province.

The problem happened because some of districts that planned to join into Tapanuli province, recently change the idea recently. They decided to join with other provinces, either still in North Sumatra province or creating the new one instead of Tapanuli province.

The supporter was not patient, and doing anarchy action in the middle of speakers meeting. The bad story then the head of speaker - Mr. Azis Angkat - died because of heart attacking. Until this time, the suspected persons are under processing of police and attorney accordingly. And the current President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono decided to postpone any plan to creating new districts as well as province until further notice.

One question: during this wave, where is the HKBP position?

General Secretary from Non Priest, are We Dare Enough?

Learning from past experience with "2-in-1" leader of HKBP called by Eforus (= bishop) and Sekjen (= General Secretary) who almost never establishing their period in harmony, i challenge to vote Sekjen from non priest instead of existing situation. He or she chosen by Sinode Godang (= congress) as usual, refer to the capacity and competency. No need somebody coming from seminary.

Considering the job description of Sekjen which is more administrative than theological, we do not need somebody coming from seminary to hold that position. He or she coming from human resources background, good in management, and has no intention to live and to create faction in HKBP. We should confess that STT HKBP (theology seminary owned by HKBP) does not have enough curriculum to teach those subjects because of less capacity in running the program. So, what can we hope from Sekjen who never got learning of management either administration program well before? So, it is not strange anymore for me if Sekjen usually thinking to move people from one place to another as what he feel good for him, instead of good for church ... It was happened usually in twice: in the beginning (to reward his successful team = the small group who support him during campaign period) and the shortcoming before next congress (to consolidate people who supporting him and kicking out his opposants ...).

If voting non-priest for Sekjen position, it can be reduce bad potency in internal competition between Eforus and Sekjen, because Eforus tends to keep the position until maximum period expired (two rounds) while on the other hand, Sekjen usually has a strong ambition to be Eforus for the next period. With that situation, they will compete each other to get "simpathy" from all priests who will participating in next congress as elector. You can imagine each of them will use 5-years period to do anything for having followers to vote them then in next congress. And usually tends to do any efforts to get it, event worst than politician. And has big possibility to do money politics in different way! Something is not suitable done in church environment.

Actually, this opinion is unpredictable by most of people in HKBP. And i believe many people will be agree on this approach. But the next question is the brave to expose and to explore this opinion. Are we dare enough to change?

No One from Us ...

I believe not so many people realized that in current President SBY cabinet member no one coming from Batakneese (and praise the Lord, Christian too ...). People support him, because they feel SBY support Batak Christian ...

People from certain group (teacher, driver, opinion-leader, and politician) give his comment respectively ...
